We have a dedicated and active coaching team at West Heaton, offering individual and groups sessions for Adults and Juniors of all standards throughout the year. All our coaches are DBS checked, qualified, licensed with full accreditation, safeguarding and first aid training. They all offer group and individual coaching. I was appointed as the Club Coach in August 2008, on a self-employed basis. The club is not liable for any events or lesson payments that I run. All monies will be paid directly to myself or a nominated assistant coach. We therefore will be responsible for carrying them out.

Sue Morrison Assistant Coach
Level 3 Coach
Sue has over 30 years' experience in tennis/sports, and has worked alongside Andy Perry since 2007. She enjoys introducing and developing a love of tennis in new players of any age and has put together and managed many successful coaching programmes, both in tennis clubs and surrounding primary schools.
Andy and Sue run several popular tennis camps at West Heaton during the holidays that are fun and enjoyable for children of all ages. In addition Sue provides dynamic tennis / sports children’s parties in the cheshire area that can be tailored to your child’s needs.
Sue works at several local primary schools to increase awareness, enjoyment and provide an introduction to tennis. She is also a qualified first aider.

Jonny Healey Assistant Coach
Level 3 Coach
Jonny has over 10 years' experience. He is a former Mini tennis Cheshire champion and Junior County player. He currently plays for the Men's 1st team at West Heaton.
Jonny is experienced in coaching juniors and adults of all ages and standards and also specialises in tots tennis (2-4 years).

Richard Meadowcroft Assistant Coach
Level 3 Coach
Richard has experience coaching both adults and children. Having been a PE teacher for over 30 years he took a part time teaching roll in 2020 to join the coaching team at West Heaton.
Richard is a member of the West Heaton Men’s 1st team and a winner of the Men’s Singles championships for 2 years running (2014 & 2015).

Andy Perry Head Coach
Level 4 Senior Club Coach
Andy has over 25 years’ experience. A former County player at both Junior and Senior Level he currently plays for the Men's 1st team at West Heaton.
Andy has worked at numerous clubs in his time. He has coached 5 Junior players who reached Wimbledon at Junior and senior level, as well as coaching County champions and former British No 1s in their age group.
Andy now specialises in developing all ages and abilities in his role as Head Coach, and has built a fantastic team of coaches and leaders who assist with the programme.
Andy also provides a first-class stringing service as a qualified UKRSA stringer of over 30 years. 24 hour stringing service provided.

Junior Courses
Junior coaching courses run during school term times and cater for children from reception year at school (youngest age) to Year 13 (upper 6th at college). All groups are graded according to age and standard.
We have courses running 6 days a week: Monday to Friday after school, and Saturday mornings.
If your child is new to tennis and wishes to try out a session first please contact Head Coach Andy Perry.
LTA Youth Start
We also run 6-week beginner courses for primary school children during the summer season (Easter to October). These courses have the additional benefit of providing children with a Tennis Racket, Pack of Balls, T-shirt and Wristbands.
Please note these courses are limited and seasonal, unlike our main coaching programme which runs all year round.
Eligibility: Children can attend coaching sessions as a member or non-member. Members receive a discount on all groups and camps and can book courts outside of coaching times using our online booking calendar. Details of Junior Membership can be found here.

Coaches: All coaching courses are run by one of our main coaching staff who are qualified, licensed, DBS checked and Safeguard Trained. We also have Tennis Leaders assisting busy groups.
Junior Camps
During the Schools Holidays we run Tennis Camps for children aged between 4 (reception year at school) and 16.
Our Camps are split into:
Mini Camps* (8.45 - 9.45 daily) For children in Reception and Year 1
Main Camps* (10 - 3.30) For children in Year 2 through to Year 7
Teen Camp (1 - 3pm) For children with experience of Tennis who are in Years 8 - 11
*Early Drop off (8.30am) and late pick up (5pm) options are available for a small additional fee.
Eligibility: Children can attend coaching sessions as a member or non-member. Members receive a discount on all groups and camps and can book courts outside of coaching times using our online booking calendar. Details of Junior Membership can be found here.
Booking: All dates for the year are listed on the link and can be booked by clicking on the camp of your choice. Camps can be booked for individual days, groups of days, or for the whole week. Discounts are available for siblings, members and for full-week bookings.

Rusty Rackets
A popular adult coaching group for beginners / re-starters.
Tuesday 7:00pm - 8:00pm (Beginners / Improvers)
For those who are fairly new to the game and looking to improve their shots and gain some consistency rallying.
Tuesday 8:00pm - 9:00pm (Intermediate)
For those who have some consistency, but are looking to improve technique, learn tactics, and get lots of practice in under the watchful eye of the coaching staff.
Booking: Rusty Rackets bookings are on a week-by-week basis. Course bookings open each week on Tuesday evening at 9.30pm (for the following Tuesday). There is a maximum of 12 places per session. Use the yellow button to book a place on the Rusty Rackets course of your choice (please make sure you book onto the correct session for your standard).
Eligibility: The sessions can be booked by members but we also allow non-members to attend a maximum of 3 sessions. Please note as a non-member you can only attend the club a maximum of 3 times before you are expected to join. So if you are trying out other sessions as well this would limit the number of times you can attend this session.
Cost: £6 per session payable at time of booking
Ladies Morning
Lots of drills, lots of coaching and lots of fun. Players often stay afterwards for a much deserved brew and biscuits!
Tuesday 10:00am - 11:15am

Eligibility: The sessions can be booked by members but we also allow non-members to attend a maximum of 3 sessions. Please note as a non-member you can only attend the club a maximum of 3 times before you are expected to join. So if you are trying out other sessions as well this would limit the number of times you can attend this session.
Cost: £7.50 per session payable at time of booking
Tennis Xpress
These seasonal Tennis Xpress courses are for beginners or those who want to get started again after a long break (maybe you played when you were a Junior and now want to get back into the sport again?)

Pre-Season Team Coaching and Tennis Clinics
These winter sessions are provided to team selections and are invite-only only. If you are interested in joining a team at West Heaton, please get in touch.
